Hello FJ. I'm not setting up a specific gaming community. This is just a discussion forum for the wider world. Please do not take it the wrong way. I'm not doing the same as TNGC where you have say 'Beltain Lords for WoW' or 'Nemotos Order for WoW'. This is a site where people can just make a quick post to say what they think of a particular game and discuss further.

The teamspeak server had around 200 people on at its peak. That was the TNGC part plus a CSS clan and the Public section.

150 seems a good limit. Nemetos has around 95 and every time we've gone above 100 things just fall apart as their are too many people to please.

It is frustrating that people leave for another Community or whatever. Especially those times when they are leaving for no obvious benefit apart from the fact its easier for them individually as someone else will do the work for them.

As you complete Raids in WoW you free up a lot of time. After all once you've got all the items you want and have seen as much of the instance as you want to there is little reason to go back so that means you are only raiding one or two nights a week in the newer Raids.

From a purely sociological point of view, 150 people is allegedly about the largest number that can exist in any community where most members know most other members, beyond that and fragmentation into unconnected sub-groups is pretty much automatic.

I have a semi-relevant question - How many people can the community support? Could it support 100 people on TS at a time, for example?

All very well demanding why people play games with other communities - but if for example of these people (eg, all of these 'other clans' they play with) descended on the TNGC TS server would it cope?

i'm considered by some as not really being active enough myself to be a full raider in the guild, i try and attend 4 raids a week (4 hours or so each) add to this time needed to grind mats for all the consumables you use as well as repair money and while being really only at a minimum activity level, i probably need to be online 18+20 hours a week, if i actually want to run a few other instances for fun or play an alt then time take is even more, pretty hard to fit commitments to another game into this sort of a schedule...

I have to agree with most things said. 90% of the community is occupied with WoW and can't really spare much time for anything else. I've asked a couple of times about WC3 but was pretty much ignored.

the reason people join things like M2TW and BF2 clans is simple, specialisation. we play quite a lot of games between us and i enjoy playing against those who have M2TW (though its been a while since i have) as well as BF2, but the TNGC doesnt have a self-sustaining clan for either. reason being is we havent committed to forming new divisions out of games that we dont have a large group behind, or the community would become enormous with just the inclusion of one major division. i dont have a problem with that, it just hasnt happened as yet.

for instance, my BF2 clan (who i havent seen lately, as it happens) sub 2 servers, help run and compete in ladders and generally have the same kind of organisation as we do, but they specialise. for us atm WoW is a specialisation, so the choice is either actively develop existing games into divisions (and not simply rely on the current TNGC members to make up 90% of the division) or to stick with a more close knit group.

The two mulitiplayer games I'm playing at the moment are BF2142 and Everquest2. Although I really enjoy BF, I've never got into any serious squad work and so its not really a great multiplayer game.
When I first promoted it, there was so much opposition to it, I gave up on any TNGC involvement.
It turns out that some of the points you guys raised against it were valid. Points mean prizes so the game really is about farming. You can't win without learning how to farm points. On top of that, the idea that you have to rent servers from EA really does suck. I've never played on an unranked server because I have too much work to do earning the points I need to succeed in the game. Saying that, I still play it and enjoy it, but I'd never pay to play it so having our own ranked server wouldn't really be viable. BF2142 down.

I play EQ2 because a friend roped me into it. It's not much different to wow other than it takes longer to raise your characters which is what I liked about it. Now I'm getting near the end game content (i.e. DKP and mindless raiding) I will be pulling out of the game soon. For that reason and that it is too similar to WoW that I haven't introduced a EQ2 division.

I play a couple of other games too but they're single player affairs that don't have any relevance to a multiplayer community.

As I've said a few too many times before theres nothing out there but WoW at the moment that holds all of our attention. As others have found when they leave wow, it's cold out here

This is just a thing that will hopefully change after a while. When WoW came out the first time I remember that I couldn't take my eyes of the computer. Prolly as the newness of wow:tbc dissapears people will hopefully start playing other games.

I'm all for setting up a MTW2 TNGC division, but atm lack time to put serious dedication into such a thing, but I would be more then willing to join might someone start one.

I really had the same problem as amiga with Guild Wars, a game that never got off the ground in this community. I ended up joining a Guildwars clan and even losing contact with TNGC for a while. While I enjoy playing WoW I must admit it is a serious threat to the idea of multigaming, because of the time investment needed to raid.

I'm beginning to think multi-game communities don't work.

Maybe they shose to play ouside the community beacuse maybe they feel that wow is takeing up all time for pretty much all that hangs here and dont have any time over for other games?
Me and Kati is what i know 2 of them who miss the saturdays we had with CSS before BC...we had tons of funs with new maps,new mods and ofc all the fun we had on TS , but since BC came that is gone now

Sure i know TNGC is not all about wow but its sutch a big game and so many plays it and u got to play much to keep up with a big raiding guild.
Maybe thats why crasp, amiga and many more are searching for other communitys to play the game they like other then wow atm.

And i would like to try BF2, BF2142 and many other games that u can play online (well mostly fps then) but there are things that stops me from that.
First is the time, and i have about 2 months left in school witch is a hell for me with so much to do and so little time and i guess others also have this type of problem or something like it atleast.
And then there is the money to buy new games for..atm i simpley dont have the cash to buy them (even tho they dont cost so much) i have to put other things first.

And u have seen ppl tried to set up CSS nights and the BF2142 nights and what i remeber 0 showed up for CSS night even tho many said they would come and the BF night i dont know anything about beacuse i dont look at that forum that much.

Something of a problem is developing at the moment where the community is unable to try something new and move into other games. I'm kind of curious of the reasons for this.
unexpectedgreg is setting up his own community, Crasp is part of a BF2 Clan outside the Community, Amiga is part of a M2TW Clan outside the community and there are many many more who play games with other communities. Am I the only 1 only playing games that our community plays?

So why play games outside of our community? What are they offering that we are not? And don't you agree its possible we can offer the same thing they can offer too, i.e Leagues/Servers etc etc? How come you didn't consider setting up your own TNGC division for the game?
