Automatic login is managed by a cookie. Cookies are stored on the PC you're using at the time they're stored so if you login at home and set autologin, then login at school... the school PC has no idea. Setting autologin on public PCs (like school, work) is generally a bad idea anyway as other folks...

Forum articles are held in a seperate database and the author field will continue to hold whatever value was put in there when the article was created.
