Hmmmm wrong driver.....

Post by RocketRevenger » Wed Sep 07, 2005 1:39 pm

I installed a new ATI card driver today 5.8 for windows XP I think it was. But I did not delete the old before installing the new one. I have a Radeon 9700 pro and now I can't seem to get it to work. Every time I start it up, it just starts loading windows XP and then I get a black screen. I think I did something terribly wrong here :(. Any ideas on how to fix it?? :D

press F8 when your booting up.. and it will bring up the boot menu thing. In there you will see an entry for "VGA mode" or something along those lines.. hit that and it will reset XP back to 640x480 hopefully allowing u back in.. maybe.

-Open computer case
-Remove Ati card
-Install Nvidia card

:P

If Mr_Scotts trick does not work, start in safe mode and uninstall the driver. Then install the default XP driver. After that reinstall the new one.
