I was mostly reffering to this quote on another post
I won't mention the "unmentionable game" but already we have lost Aveox, Firejack and myself to that division - two highly respected Planetside guild leaders and WoW's own guild leader - who would have thought that a simple game could bring these people to thier knees, especially considering thier amazing achievments in other games.

I have to say that I am amazed at how this forum has fallen apart in a few months time. Granted that a few weeks worth of posting were lost but still this forum is quieter then a ghost town on a sunday morning. This community should be nearly twice it's size compared to a few months ago. So were is all the banter, jokes, game discussion, etc.?

A gaming community does not focus on a single game. It does not try to put all of it's members in a single clan/guild/whatever. Instead it provides a framework for it's members to play several games. If there was one common game, this would be a gaming clan, not a community.
And note that in my post I did not refer to games themselves, I referred to all the other stuff that was happening around here.

Well Ave if you want to be pedantic, let me clear up my point for you.
These forums were at their height when all members had a game in common. If our members interests are split across a wide spectrum of distractions, one might find it hard to find common ground to remark and opine upon.
Perhaps in the time when these forums were thriving, it may have something to do with the fact that 95% of the users were playing one game. This may have, you might argue, made us a gaming clan but then it would explain the current calm within these hallowed boards.

Why do you talk about stuff I didnt write?
On a side note: If you do have some sort of problem with me (and clearly there is something that is bothering you), just say it.

I don't think we are big enough to be a gaming commynity myself. In the games we play we often need at least 10 people willing to do the same tig like raids. If we split up over so many games, we will not have enough members playing each of those games. we have like how many active COMMUNITY members now? 20?? Maybe 30??

The desire to be a community means we need to recruit people. Especially those who want to help make a community that they want to be part of, that play the games they want to play in the way want to play.
Its no good pointing out how we have become spread too thin. I believe we are onto a good thing branching out. However if we want it to work we must recruit.
I know the Nemetos Order guys are having fairly good success recruiting for their guild. But these aren't being converted into members of the community by getting them signed up here.
PlanetSide probably isn't going to produce many new members now since its been winding down for awhile now.
I've got a few guys helping me out on the HL2 server. Don't believe the game has enough going for it to provided a suitable platform to build a Clan on but it doesn't stop people joining the community.
We aren't the sort of people to talk around in circles and that is showing in the frustration in this thread which incidently is putting a fairly large negative slant on the community that isn't really fair for the whole picture.
Lets do what we are best at and get out there to seek out the games we want to play. Then indentify the players playing that game who wish to play the game the same way as us. Do this and the forums will come to life again.

Ave, i read your post and was offering an answer to the question that YOU posed! Two things are irrifutable:
1 the forum is less active.
2 We dont all play PS anymore.
I just linked the two facts an came up with a possibility.
Your speach:
A gaming community does not focus on a single game. It does not try to put all of it's members in a single clan/guild/whatever. Instead it provides a framework for it's members to play several games. If there was one common game, this would be a gaming clan, not a community.

was just stating the obvious and I found it a little patronising.
Regardless of whether we are called a community or a clan the dynamic suggests that not being present in the same game may have some detrimental effect our socialising.
I apologise to the other members for any discomfort but Ave and I have a history of misunderstanding each other.
Aveox, I read your post as an attack and I apologise if it wasn't written intentionally in that way. And brother, no I don't have a problem with you. I have been suprised by you, that is all.
Peace, love and happy days to one and all.
