Planning ahead...

Later this year as many of you know I will be going to University. Therefore obviously I won't have as much time as I currently have for this community. With restrictions on bandwidth and a restrictive University Firewall we have to plan for the event I may have little or no ability to contribute as an important part of this community as I currently am. To work around this problem I'm going to list all the different tasks needed to be performed in order for the community to succeed.
- Forum Admin - Modification, maintenance and backup
- Forum Moderators - Keeping forums tidy
- Web Administrator - Backup and configuration of website
- WebMasters - for community site and sub divisions.
- BF2 Server Admin - Maintenance, updating of game server
- BF2 Game Admins - Keeping the game orderly
- HL2 Server Admin - As BF2 Server Admin
- HL2 Game Admins - As BF2 Game Admin
- Teamspeak Super Admin - Appointment of Server Admins and updating of server
- Teamspeak Server Admins - Creating channels, Registering users
- IRC Admin - Setup of TNGC IRC Channel
- Divisional Leaders - for each game we play
Feel free if you need more information on what exactly a task involved. Remember this is your chance to make an impact on the community. I'm sure I'll probably think of some more tasks later on.

with my limited knowledge of all things server I couldnt really do the updating and backing up type jobs.
I would like to volunteer for the forum moderator and game admins jobs, have done the game admins before
I am also in talks to try and get an unofficial BOT for an IRC channel called CiCEGG we can use this to keep the channel alive but it has been altered to allow it to store match reports n stuff, if we get enough people on a regular basis using IRC we should get our hands on an L bot from quakenet but ill keep you posted will work on it some more this week and ill let you know.

I don't mind looking after any web server admin if its needed. I'm of course up for site management for the main TNGC site and any divisions I'm playing in too.

Due to time constraints I won't apply for server/game admin, but I am willing to be active as forum admin and run weekly database backups. Not sure about modifications though, as I have zero experience with phPBB

happy to help in any way i can, but i think your over estimating how much work you do at uni
and at mine there was hardly any problem with firewalls/limits.
you were allowed to dl more than 2gig a day, but thats a fair bit.
before you go though, earn a lot of money and get used to eating rice cakes. the money you earn helps you avoid necessities like just eating rice cakes, and eating a lot of rice cakes will help you lose the weight you put on when you spend the excess money on beer. its a tried and tested method.

I'm hoping to do Geography with my Communications & Computer Systems course. If that happens I have to do the common year for my main course and Geography... seemed like a good idea when I picked the course

Which Uni was this?

I'd be happy with 250MB a day

Its a good job I won't need to setup game servers at Uni. Between our Teamspeak, BF2 and HL2 servers we are using over One Terebyte per month right now

oooh severe. i stupidly choice joint international history and law, the former of which has now been chucked. two courses is tough
im at keele university, in stoke. nothing to shout about, but the law department was rated top 20, and i got in by saying "Ive got decent A levels, want to give me a place?", recieving an unconditional offer. i took it so easy in college after that
they didnt really have any firewalls i had trouble with, all the necessary ports for filesharing etc worked fine. might have just been lucky, i dont know. i remember one of my halls of residence mates used his block rep's wireless connection after a great deal of trouble with his laptop, but that may have just been him.

I applied for Computer Science and Physical Geography at Keele. We could of been room mates! The one problem with Keele though is it so far from.. anywhere. It ended up as my last choice for that reason.

its actually a pretty good place. i dont live on campus any more, ill be in the final year this coming september, so i live with a few of my mates, but the campus places are pretty good. the courses in general are all pretty decent, and when its sunny that place is beautiful, but its rare that happens in the winter
ill have a word with a few of my mates and see if anyone is doing similar modules as you, see if we can get you a headstart on some of the notes etc. always useful to have someone elses opinion
