You Are In Command!

When you login and find yourself the first person online You Are In Command! Therefore everyone needs to read this guide. You remain in Command until a higher ranked member joins and wishes to take over. They may wish to leave you in charge because you've read this guide and done so well :) Split up the responsibility as much as possible. Its unfair to put the burden on 1 person

Setting Up Squads

Listing the Squad. This is the most important thing. Please make sure you do it correctly!

  1. Press O to bring up the Outfit. Then select Go To Members. Uncheck the Show Offline box top right.
  2. Click the >> button next to an online players name and select Invite to Squad from the drop down box. Wait for them to accept. Congratulations you have formed your first Squad!
  3. Now press P to bring up your Squad/Platoon

  4. Check Private Squad and select Only Accepting Outfit (I also suggest ticking Friends if you play regularly with someone you know from another Outfit)
  5. Add a description in the format MAP Platoon-number Squad-name www.terranovagaming.com
e.g: MAP P1 Alpha www.terranovagaming.com , and hit Enable Recruitment
  6. Once the squad is full. Simply send additional members a Platoon invite in the Invite to Form Platoon box. A Platoon will be formed. Press P to view it.
  7. The Platoon Leader role should be separated from any other responsibility. They should *not* be a Squad Leader. Its too much hard work for one person alone.
  8. To move a person between squads, promote to Squad/Platoon Leader. Click the >> button next to their name.

Please don't forcibly move people between Squads. They may be playing with friends.

Waypoints

These are singularly the most useful Command tool in-game. Right-click on the map to place them.

ps2_waypoints.jpg

  • Personal Waypoint - Very useful for remembering where you parked or for marking an important road junction you need to turn at on route to your target.
  • Squad Waypoint - This is where you should be. The Squad Leader should place this on the current base being defended or attacked. A choke point that needs defending. Or a Rally point to meet up for a Galaxy ride.
  • Platoon Leaders waypoint - This is where you will be eventually. This marks the Target Base to be attacked.

There are also flares in game. At 100 certification points each they are useful for marking landing zones for aircraft but are not as important as mastering waypoints.

A to B - Path of attack

Number 1 question is always Where are we attacking? This is how you indicate it to the Outfit.

Point A - Home Base

You first need to choose a Home Base to launch the attack from. This is a base where you can spawn air/ground vehicles at. Examples;

  • Warpgate
  • Tech Plant, Bio Lab, AMP Station
  • Towers
  • + some outlying bases

Point B - Target Base

This should always be marked by the Platoon Waypoint. All surrounded Hex's are considered valid targets for Squad Leaders to attack with their squads. Surrounding bases should taken in order to increase influence on Target Base. Valid Target Base;

  • Warpgates
  • Main bases
  • Target for new Home Base

Do not shift the Platoon waypoint around frequently. Other Squads will be coordinating/planning attacks off this location. For Galaxy pickup points etc use flares/squad waypoints. If you need to mark an enemy S-AMS or critical choke point then do so but remember to move the Platoon Waypoint back to the Target Base to avoid confusion.

Example

ps2_example-outfit-attack3.jpg

  1. Here you see the Commander has chosen Esamir as the continent to fight on.
  2. The Commander has designated Snowshear watch tower as the Home Base of the Outfit for the current offensive.
  3. The Commander has set the NC warpgate as the Target Base and aims to eliminate the NC from the continent. This is indicated by the Orange/Gold Waypoint. All Surrounding Hex's are valid targets for Squad Leaders to attack.
  4. Your Squad Leader has set the Green Waypoint and this is where you need to be with your squad
  5. In order to safely navigate your way to your Squads Position from your Home Base you have set a Blue personal waypoint to drive via on your way to the Green waypoint.

Advanced topics

Hopefully we'll cover these at a later time. But quickly.

Re-securing territory

To ensure victory you may need to consider re-securing territory elsewhere to ensure victory for the current attack. Holding on Continental or Facility Benefit can make or break any attack. Its much harder trying to fight an enemy if they can field tank and you can't or they have a discount on ground vehicles but you don't.

Resources matter

Just because you have a member subscription and increased resources doesn't mean the zerg does. Concentrating on keeping essential resource Hex's is vital. Just as important is denying enemy key resources. Taking all Mechanized resources will stop them pulling S-AMS. Without spawn points their attacks will crumble.

S-AMS

This is the most powerful vehicle in the game. You can guide the zerg placing it correctly making you more powerful then any Outfit or Commander.

Command tools

Personally, right now, I ignore these. Any idiot with enough certification points and a Squad of 2 can place these. They are often in stupid locations. Concentrating on working with your Outfit and use a S-AMS.
